Feeling stressed out? Ground yourself using these simple steps

Feeling stressed out? Ground yourself using these simple steps

Sometimes life can get a little hectic and we can feel stressed and anxious. This makes it hard to stay in the present - this is where grounding comes in. Grounding is a simple technique we can use to bring us back into the present and help relax us. The great news is we can practice grounding anywhere at any time - just follow the steps below.

1) Find a quiet place or somewhere where you can have a couple of minutes to yourself.

2) Look around and find five things you can see. Take a deep breath in between each thing you notice e.g. I can see people walking past *breathe* I can see birds in the sky *breathe*

3) Now bring your awareness into your body. What can you feel? Find four things you can feel, and again, take a breath between each. Maybe you can feel the pressure of your legs on the seat, or the weight of your arm on the table.

4) Now we want to focus on what we can hear. Close your eyes and listen to your surroundings. Find three sounds you can hear. Again, breathe between each sound you notice.

5) Close your eyes again. This time I want you to find two things you can smell. Again, keep breathing.

6) Finally, notice one thing you can taste. Take one more breath and hopefully you feel more relaxed!

We love doing this grounding technique with a cup of our Reset tea. The combination of lavender, lemon, and mint is not only relaxing, but delicious!
